Southern Rep Announces Summer Workshops

Southern Rep announced new workshops and shows that will be presented at their conclusion:

WHAT A KNIGHT!

A musical adventure! A castle full of colourful characters join the fun: princesses, a talking dragon & Merlin and his magic mirror! Young squire Watt Cobblers is expelled from Knight School, he reluctantly becomes Merlin's new apprentice. Watt & his new found friends set off on the biggest quest of their lives. But can our unlikely heroes rescue the princesses, save Excalibur and defeat the evil Black Knight? The answers are found in this magical production, where everyone is guaranteed to sing, dance and laugh a lot.... AT CAMELOT!

AGES 4-10
TUITION: $250 (ask for JCC Member Rate!)
OTHER FEES: Parents are responsible for providing a costume.
DATES: March 20-May 17, TUES/THURS from 4:45-6pm (no class 4/26)
SHOWS: Sunday, May 20th at 12pm & 2pm

Beginning Stage Combat

An exciting introduction to stage combat, and how the work applies to acting technique and scene work!

AGES: 16+
TUITION: $175 (ask for JCC Member Rate!)
DATES: March 25-May 6, SUNDAYS, from 3-5pm (no class 4/8)

At Southern Rep, every camper who participates in the workshop is automatically cast IN the play! That way, everyone in the class gets to learn about auditions, acting technique, musicality, and dance, and can immediately apply that knowledge to their performance!

KID CAMP: AGES 4-8 DISNEY'S 101 DALMATIANS, KIDS!

In a loving home in the city of London, Dalmatian parents, Pongo and Perdita happily raise their Dalmatian puppies, until the monstrous Cruella De Vil plots to steal them for her new fur coat! Join all the dogs of London, as they daringly rescue the puppies from Cruella and her bumbling henchmen!

TWEEN CAMP: AGES 9-12 GETTING TO KNOW: OKLAHOMA!

From the acclaimed Rodgers & Hammerstein GETTING TO KNOW series comes this gem from the American theatre canon. Set in Oklahoma just after the turn of the last century, the high-spirited rivalry of local farmers and cowboys provides the colorful background against which Curly, a cowboy, and Laurey, a winsome farm girl, play our their rollicking courtship. Full of classic songs, upbeat dances, and headstrong characters, OKLAHOMA! is a triumphant tale of the power of love!

TEEN CAMP: AGES 13-18 AVENUE Q: School Edition

AVENUE Q SCHOOL EDITION is a musical that tells the story of a recent college grad named Princeton who moves into a shabby New York apartment all the way out on Avenue Q. He soon discovers that though the residents seem nice, it's clear that this is not your ordinary neighborhood. Princeton and his new-found friends struggle to find jobs, dates, & their ever-elusive purpose in life.

Because the original AVENUE Q has some content elements that have previously made it a difficult choice for some high school productions, MTI has worked with the AVENUE Q authors to create an adaptation that maintains the dramatic intention and integrity of the piece, while editing it to make it more appropriate for high school audiences and performers.

AGES: 13-18
DATES/TIMES: July 16-Aug 2, MON-FRI, 9am-2pm

PERFORMANCES: Aug 1-4 @ 7pm, Aug 4&5 @ 2pm
