The story of Idiot America. There are so many spending their time in vain, living with boring days – where everything is endlessly repeated, tweeted, or Instagrammed...
One of these idiots, Johnny, the Jesus of Suburbia, and his friends Will and Tunny, decide to do something about it...to get out. Will, has a girl and she turns out pregnant. Johnny and Tunny hit the road anyway, leaving Will behind, to try to find themselves in "the city", whatever city it may be.
Along the way, in their search, they lose their ways to the violence of addiction, the destructive machinery of corporate war, the anonymity of that city...and only then, beaten, bruised, broken...can they find their way home.
This production signals a homecoming for JustArt Theatricals, being founded in New Jersey, we are coming home, with this production. By bringing this scale of musical theatre to Trenton proper we offer a chance for local performers to, like the characters they will play, to live and create according to the "desperation murmur" of their heartbeats. Today, we are all the children of rage and love, and despite it all, we yearn for a homecoming.
