The Last Five Years Ends Run at the Eagle Theatre 3/18-19

By:

Coming off a highly acclaimed series of performances at the Woodbury Sketch Club, Stage Left Productions will close out a three-week run of the emotionally gripping musical "The Last Five Years" at the Eagle Theatre, located at 208 Vine Street in Hammonton, at 8pm on March 18 and 19.

Reminiscent of Moulin Rouge, this musical is a stirring exercise of the heart. "The Last Five Years" tells the story of the disintegrating marriage between Jamie, a rising novelist, and his wife Cathy, a struggling actress. The show uses a unique form of storytelling in which Cathy's story is told in reverse chronological order, beginning the show at the end of the marriage, and Jamie's is told in chronological order, starting just after the couple have first met.

Directed once again by Ed Santiago, this run of the musical will feature performances by Ed Corsi and Jennie Knackstedt, who will reprise their roles as Jamie and Cathy. Their performance has been praised by critics from around the area, including Jack Shaw of Stage Magazine, who wrote: "'The Last Five Years' is a delicate, sensitive piece...It is the human dilemma of deciding which dream is more important. Heartwarming and touching, it strikes us squarely in our hearts, and hits us right between the eyes."

The compelling score for the show will be performed live by a seven-piece orchestra and conducted by two-time Barrymore Award Nominee Collin Maier. Regarding Maier's role as conductor, Off-Broadway reviewer Karen Torta-Lee wrote: "He and Santiago partner perfectly to direct these two gifted actors to present a jewel of a play."

Tickets for this performance are $20 general admission. They can be purchased online at www.theeagletheatre.com, or reserved by calling the box office at (609) 704-5012.

The Eagle Theatre is a non-profit culturally diverse performing arts center located at 208 Vine Street in Downtown Hammonton, New Jersey. The theatre was restored in 2009 and has since been reborn as the centerpiece of the Hammonton Art District.
