ELTC's TALES OF THE VICTORIANS to Play Final Performance, 8/29

By:

There is only one more opportunity to attend the award-winning East Lynne Theater Company's "Tales of the Victorians" this summer: Thursday, August 29 at 4:00p.m. at The Blue Rose Inn and Restaurant, 653 Washington St. While taking tea and tasting treats at this lovely new B&B, professional storytellers and long-time ELTC favorites Stephanie Garrett and Lee O'Connor will read classic stories from the vast selection of America's rich repertoire, which includes works by O. Henry, Mark Twain, Chester Himes, and Zora Neale Hurston. Cost for this popular pastime is only $10.00, and like other ELTC events, children are always welcome, and, ages 12 and under are free.

Stephanie Garrett began her storytelling career at Historic Cold Spring Village over a dozen years ago where she specialized in early 19th Century Cape May County African American History. She has performed in ELTC's productions of "Christmas in Black and White," "Women and the Vote," "Rain," "The People of Cape May v. Johan Van Buren," and most recently in "Lost on the Natchez Trace." Lee O'Connor, ELTC's technical director, has portrayed Sherlock Holmes in all of ELTC's productions based on the works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, including the company's popular radio-style adventures. He also appeared in ELTC's "The Leach Diaries," "The Dictator" (2001 production), "Dick Spindler's Family Christmas," and "Henry Sawyer and the Civil War." Other performing work includes "The Odd Couple" in Saigon while serving in Vietnam, and a road company of "Annie Get Your Gun."

"Tales" will be back on Saturday, October 12 at The Henry Sawyer Inn, 722 Columbia Ave.

Meanwhile, ELTC's mainstage season continues with "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" through August 31, followed by "The Late Christopher Bean" opening on Wednesday, September 18 - both at The First Presbyterian Church, 500 Hughes St. in Cape May, where the company is in residence.

For information and to make reservations for "Tales of the Victorians" and the mainstage season, call 609-884-5898 or go online to www.eastlynnetheater.org.
