BergenPAC's Performing Arts School Hosts Summer Musical Auditions

Teens are invited to audition for The Performing Arts School at bergenPAC's 2019 summer musical, The Producers. Aspiring actors age 13-23 with any experience level are encouraged to audition. Presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International, the show will be performed on the bergenPAC TAUB Stage Aug. 1-4.

The Performing Arts School at bergenPAC draws teens from around the region for its summer musicals. Our performers and stage crew members have been accepted at renowned theater schools like New York University Tisch School of the Arts, Carnegie Mellon, Mason Gross at Rutgers and Montclair State University. Rachel Zegler, a Clifton resident who starred as Maria in West Side Story in the summer of 2017, was selected by Steven Spielberg to reprise the role in his upcoming remake of the classic film.

The professional faculty at The Performing Arts School at bergenPAC is now looking for its next set of stars. The plot of The Producers is simple: a down-on-his-luck Broadway producer and his accountant create a scheme to produce the most notorious flop in history, thereby bilking their backers out of millions of dollars. Only one thing goes awry: the show is a smash hit! The book was co-written by comedy legend Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan (Annie), with music and lyrics by Brooks.

The production will be directed by Alexander Diaz, with musical direction by Glenn Gordon and choreography by Rebecca Sonia.

Audition Details

Registration is required, so please call The Performing Arts School at 201-482-8194 or email education@bergenPAC.org with the subject "2019 Summer Musical." Performers should bring a headshot and resume and arrive 30 minutes prior to their audition time to sign in and to warm up. They should prepare a 32-bar selection and a 1-minute monologue. An accompanist will be provided, but please bring sheet music in a binder.

Rehearsals start late June and performance are Thursday, Aug. 1 and Friday, Aug. 2 at 8 p.m., and Saturday, Aug. 3 and Sunday, Aug. 4 at 3 and 8 p.m.
