Seacoast Repertory Theatre (the Rep) launched a 2D/QR Mobile Campaign to kick off a promotion for its fall production of CABARET.

When anyone scans the code with a smart phone using any 2D/QR barcode reader or texts "WELCOME" to 64842 they are automatically entered to win two free tickets to the CABARET which opens on September 30th and plays through October 23, 2011.

In either case, the person receives a text message notifying them of entry. The winner will be randomly selected at the close of the campaign on Aug. 28th and notified via a text message with instructions on how to claim their two free tickets.

"With so many people using cell phones today, it only seemed natural to expand the communication to our growing audience" said Teri Martin, Managing Director of the Rep.

The promotion is being advertized with the 2D/QR code displayed on posters, programs and in the theatre's lobby at 125 Bow Street in Portsmouth, NH among other places.

The tracking technology for the 2D/QR code campaign is being managed by GossRSVP of Durham, NH, who is sponsoring the Rep's new mobile campaign. "2D/QR codes are proven to be an extremely efficient means to engage consumers and deliver your company's message with the ability to integrate compelling content, coupons and promotional opportunities that give customer instant value." explained Roger Belanger, Director - GossRSVP. "We are thrilled to partner with the Rep on their mobile marketing initiatives."

According to a recent report published by ScanLife, an estimated 30-40% of all Smartphone users have downloaded a barcode scanning application. Rather than having the code simply direct the person to a website, a common use of 2D/QR barcodes, the Rep and GossRSVP wanted to keep this first campaign simple and provide instant value to the user, using this quick response version of 2D, known as a QR code.

The 2D/QR code can be read by most smart phones, with one entry per phone, tracked by the system.

Founded in 1987, the SEACOAST REPERTORY THEATRE is a not-for-profit arts and educational organization, which has been entertaining, enlightening and engaging audiences as New Hampshire's only year-round professional theatre for decades. Winner of countless regional and local awards, the Rep offers a complete schedule of award-winning musicals, plays and youth productions as well as educational opportunities for all ages with its youth workshops, classes, camps and Senior Moments programs.
