On Friday, October 26, award-winning writer Andre Dubus III returns to The Music Hall Loft to talk about his first novel in over a decade, GONE SO LONG, a masterpiece of thrilling tension and heartrending empathy.

The 7pm event includes an author presentation and Q+A moderated by New Hampshire author Joyce Maynard, plus a book signing and meet-and-greet. It will be held at The Music Hall Loft at 131 Congress Street, in downtown Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

"With visceral characters rooted in the grit of real life, the appeal of local hero Andre Dubus III stretches far beyond the region," said Patricia Lynch, The Music Hall's executive producer. "We are honored to welcome him back to The Music Hall, and are all the more excited that New Hampshire's own bestselling author Joyce Maynard will join him to discuss what's sure to be another runaway success."

ABOUT THE BOOK

For as long as she can remember, Susan Dunn has been trying to escape. But peace and happiness have always eluded her-now an adjunct professor, she is tortured by the novel she cannot finish, and a lack of feeling toward a husband who loves her. Just when she's ready to abandon everything to try again, she is forced to reckon with the trauma that first sent her running: her mother's murder at the hands of her father, Daniel Ahearn, forty years ago. Daniel, out of prison and living a spartan life, has written to Susan...

Probing the limits of our capacity to forgive, GONE SO LONG is a profound exploration of the struggle between our best intentions and most mercurial desires. Don't miss hearing from Andre Dubus III about this latest work, on stage with guest moderator Joyce Maynard.

Andre Dubus III is the author of The Garden of Last Days, House of Sand and Fog (a #1 New York Times bestseller, Oprah's Book Club pick, and finalist for the National Book Award), and Townie, winner of an American Academy of Arts and Letters Award in Literature.
