Phylloxera Productions and The Players' Ring have announced the seventy-fifth anniversary recreation of the most notorious radio broadcast of all time - Invasion from Mars! BroadwayWorld has a sneak peek at the cast below!
Seventy five years ago, on the evening of October 30, 1938, CBS radio, and The Mercury Theatre Players, presented a radio adaptation of The War of the Worlds by H. G. Wells. Within minutes of the beginning of that broadcast, as much as twenty-five percent of the population of this country believed that Earth was being invaded by Mars. Pockets of pandemonium broke out across America. This October, Invasion from Mars! reproduces that broadcast exactly as it happened, minute by minute - occasionally pausing to tell the stories of some listeners who believed that the broadcast was real. Original script by Howard W. Koch, with additional material by Gary Locke. Invasion from Mars runs October 11 to October 27 at The Players' Ring, 105 Marcy Street, Portsmouth, NH.Performances are 8pm Fri/Sat nights, 7pm Sunday nights October 13 and 20, and 2pm on Sunday, October 27.
