New Hampshire Theatre Project's Youth Rep to Present AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 MINUTES

By:
New Hampshire Theatre Project's Youth Repertory Company will present Around the World in 80 Minutes, a collection of stories from many lands adapted by Genevieve Aichele.

Perfect for the whole family to enjoy together, Around the World travels from the hilarious antics of Anansi the Spider, West Africa's favorite trickster, to the lyrical poetry of The Children of Lir, a tale from Irish mythology, to a Japanese tale of two zany sisters who outwit the mysterious "Oni."

Audiences will meet a proud Hunter Maiden from the Zuni Native American tradition and chortle at a Foolish Maiden from Armenia; other stories feature unexpected heroines like the little ant from Mexico, La Hormiguita, and the intrepid Girl Who Found Fear from Turkey. Genevieve Aichele's story theatre adaptation of folktales and legends from every continent have been performed by thousands of children in schools throughout New England.

Each actor in the NHTP Youth Repertory Company will play multiple characters, using a variety of theatrical styles on this magical journey. Around the World in 80 Minutes features Max Cavanaugh from Epping, Eliza Klein from North Hampton, Sara Hoskin from Rye, Mischa Landgarten from Kittery, Avery Seuter from Wells, and Colleen Spear from Portsmouth.

Celebrating its 19th year, the NHTP Youth Repertory Company is an auditioned company which offers intense acting training, master classes with guest artists, and the opportunity to perform in a variety of productions drawn from classical theatre and literature, or traditional styles. Students ages 10-17 come from all over the tri-state area to participate. In 2017-18, the Youth Repertory Company will include additional training opportunities in playwriting, technical and design.
