New Hampshire Theatre Project's Morning Matters Series presents "The Portfolio Approach to College Applications" on August 8, 15 & 22 from 8:30-10:00 am at West End Studio Theatre, Portsmouth, NH.

On August 8, 15 and 22, Michael Megliola will lead a three-morning seminar on The Portfolio Approach to College Applications. Some college-bound students can improve results (and reduce stress) by taking the portfolio approach to college applications. The portfolio approach means including substantial, on-point, original work as a central component of a college application. This approach works well for students interested in engineering, computer science, performing arts, visual arts, creative writing, or other disciplines that produce original work. The odds of finding the right fit can be dramatically higher when a school sees an applicant's original work.

Michael Megliola is a member of the NHTP Board of Directors, and has been actively involved in college admissions for several years, as an alumni interviewer for an Ivy-League university. Michael's oldest son (Anthony) will be attending Tisch School of the Arts at NYU, and his youngest (Leo) started assembling his engineering portfolio last year -- in seventh grade -- at Berwick Academy. Using recent, real-life examples, Michael will share how the portfolio approach can elevate the dialogue between an applicant and an admissions department.

The seminar is open to parents and students and will meet on three consecutive Tuesdays from 8:30-10:00 am. August 8 will focus on Real Life Case Studies, August 15 on Fitting the Pieces Together, and August 22 on Next Steps. There is a suggested donation of $250 per family, with all proceeds to benefit NHTP's educational theatre programs.
