Elaine Stritch's Tony and Emmy Award-Winning Show AT LIBERTY Comes To RST In HD ImageThe incomparable singer, dancer & actor, Elaine Stritch (1925-2014) developed a one-woman show over 15 years ago that fans of Broadway are still talking about today. Thankfully, this joyous and raucous production was captured in high definition and will live on forever. The show, Elaine Stritch at Liberty, will be screened exclusively at The Park Theatre's River Street Theatre in downtown Jaffrey on Saturday, September 15 at 7pm and again on Wednesday, September 19 at 2pm.

While she never became a household name for her film and television work, Elaine Stritch is one of the true living legends of the New York stage, with a career that's spanned a remarkable seven decades and seen her work side by side with some of the greatest names in the American theater. In 2002, Stritch collaborated with playwright John Lahr to create Elaine Stritch at Liberty, a Tony and Emmy award-winning one-woman show in which Stritch shared the ups and downs of her private and professional life with her audience as she sang some of her favorite songs (including tunes by her friends and collaborators Noël Coward and Stephen Sondheim). She talked about her partners on-stage (Ethel Merman) and off-stage (Marlon Brando, Ben Gazzara), and recounted her long battle with alcoholism.

Andy Picheta directed this film adaptation of Elaine Stritch at Liberty (in collaboration with Nick Doob, Chris Hegedus, and D.A. Pennebaker), in which highlights from the show are intercut with archive material shot throughout Stritch's career, as well as rehearsal footage documenting how the show took shape. The performance that was captured on film was staged at the Old Vic Theatre in London.

Tickets for Elaine Stritch at Liberty are $15 each. A discounted ticket of $13 is available for seniors, active military, students, and teachers. Group sales and private screening parties are also available.

More program and schedule information, as well as ticket purchases, can be found at RiverSt.org or by calling the RST Box Office (603) 532-8888. The after hours box office can be reached by calling OvationTix at (866) 811-4111. The River Street Theatre is located in downtown Jaffrey, New Hampshire at 6 River Street. The River Street Theatre is sponsored by Grove Street Fiduciary, Coca-Cola, the Board of Trustees of the Park Theatre, Janet S. Grant, Betty Locke, Owen Houghton and the James F. & Fernande Kelly Charitable Trust.
