Christopher Plummer to Star in THE TEMPEST at River Street Theatre

The River Street Theatre (RST), a project of The Park Theatre, will present the acclaimed Stratford Festival production of William Shakespeare's The Tempest starring Christopher Plummer Thursday, September 7 through Saturday, September 9 with a showing at 7:30pm each evening. On Sunday, September 10 there will be a matinee presentation at 2pm. The Tempest is part of RST's continuing Stage2Screen Series.

This culminating masterpiece of Shakespeare's career pits the desire for revenge against the demands of love and asks if a man is capable of creating a brave new world. Directed by Des McAnuff and captured in high definition over three performances, this spectacular and griping play is filmed by 14 ultra HD cameras that give the viewer an upfront and intimate theatrical experience unlike any other.

Canadian born Christopher Plummer has been acting for over 60 years. He has won almost every possible acting award including an Oscar, two Emmys, two Tony Awards, a Golden Globe Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award and a BAFTA. Known for his distinctive performances in many films (The Sound of Music, Battle of Britain, The Night of The Generals, Somewhere in Time, Nicholas Nickleby, A Beautiful Mind), he is also known for his command of Shakespearean roles. Mr. Plummer has portrayed nearly all of the Bard's lead characters on stages around the world. He made his debut at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival in 1956 playing the title role in Henry V.
