The River Street Theatre (RST), a project of The Park Theatre, will present the acclaimed revival of the musical FALSETTOS this Thursday through Saturday, August 3 - 5. There will be a 7:30 pm showing each evening plus a 2:00 pm matinee on Saturday.
The production was staged at the Lincoln Center Theater and captured captured in high definition video and audio. FALSETTOS is part of the RST's Stage2Screen Series of cinema events from around the globe.
FALSETTOS is a hilarious and poignant look at a modern family revolving around the life of a gay man Marvin, his wife, his lover, his soon-to-be bar mitzvahed son, their psychiatrist, and the lesbians next door. Originally created under the specter of the AIDS crisis, this timely musical about middle-class family dynamics manages to remain buoyant and satirically perceptive even as it moves towards its heartbreaking conclusion.
Lincoln Center Theater's production stars Christian Borle, Stephanie J. Block, Andrew Rannells, and Brandon Uranowitz, all of whom received Tony nominations for their respective performances. FALSETTOS received five Tony Awards in 2017.
Tickets for FALSETTOS are $15 each (seniors/military/students/teachers: $13). More program and schedule information, as well as ticket purchases, can be found at riverst.org or by calling the RST Box Office (603) 532-8888. Purchased by The Park Theatre, Inc. in 2006, it will be rebuilt as a state-of-the-art film and performing arts center, featuring two auditoriums seating 485, presenting movies, live theatre, including children's productions, concerts, and lectures as well as offering a place for business and community gatherings for the Monadnock Region and its 100,000 residents, school districts and dynamic artistic community. The new Park Theatre is scheduled to open in 2018.
The Park Theatre currently operates the River Street Theatre (RST), a small live entertainment and cinema venue, located adjacent to the construction site as an interim theatre until the new Park Theatre opens. Opened in January of 2017, the RST holds the title of "smallest theatre in New England." Visit www.theparktheatre.org for more.
