Gibson's Bookstore, the Capitol Center for the Arts, and New Hampshire Public Radio are pleased to present Bill McKibben (The End of Nature; Eaarth; Oil and Honey) for a talk and book signing on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at 7pm at the Capitol Center for the Arts in Concord, NH. McKibben will be joined on stage and in conversation by Virginia Prescott, host of NHPR's Word of Mouth and the 10-Minute Writer's Workshop podcasts, as they discuss his debut novel, Radio Free Vermont (newly published on November 7, 2017), in which a band of Vermont patriots decide that their state might be better off as its own republic. This will one of the first opportunities for readers to discuss the novel and its themes with McKibben. Their conversation will touch on themes of activism, environmentalism, and justice.

McKibben's 1989 book, The End of Nature, is regarded as the first book for a general audience about climate change and has appeared in 24 languages. He's also written a dozen other books, including Eaarth and Oil and Honey. He is a founder of 350.org, the first planet-wide, grassroots climate change movement, which launched the fast-growing fossil fuel divestment movement. He lives in Vermont.

Virginia Prescott is the Gracie Award-winning host of Word of Mouth, and the Civics 101 and 10-Minute Writer's Workshop podcasts from NHPR. Before returning to New Hampshire, Prescott produced and edited NPR's On Point and Here & Now programs, and a director at WNYC in New York. She was a member of the Peabody Award-Winning team at Jazz from Lincoln Center, an Edward R. Murrow Award-winner at WNYC, and a Loeb Fellow at Harvard University.
