Ani DiFranco Returns to New Hampshire 11/13

By: Oct. 12, 2011

Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter, guitarist and poet Ani DiFranco brings her talent to the Capitol Center for the Arts on Sunday November 13th at 7:30pm. Tickets start at $30.

Ani DiFranco has written hundreds of songs, played thousands of shows, captured the imaginations of legions of followers, and jammed with folkies, orchestras, rappers, rock and roll hall-of-famers, jazz musicians, poets, pop superstars, storytellers and a martial arts legend. She's "fixed up a few old buildings" and minimized her carbon footprint before it was trendy - from installing a geothermal heating and cooling system in the renovated church that her label calls home to using organic inks on all the t-shirts she sells.

Ani DiFranco's career as a singer, songwriter, and guitarist is proof positive that "alternative rock" can mean much more than a group of guys with electric guitars and a hefty record contract. She has broken just about every rule of the music industry and, in the process, has paved the way for other artists, emerging and established performers alike. Her new album, Red Letter Year, was conceived, sculpted and refined over the course of two years - a lifetime compared to a typical Ani recording session - the album is an impeccably crafted, multi-layered sonic achievement.

Opening for DiFranco is Indie singer and songwriter Melissa Ferrick. Best known for her critically acclaimed Goodbye Youth, the Indie music icon just released her first studio album in five years. The new album Still Right Here debutedin September and features guest vocals by Ani DiFranco.

Tickets are available now by calling 603-225-1111, online at www.ccanh.com, and at the box office on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Ticket prices: $42.50 gold circle, $35 orchestra/mezzanine, $30 balcony.
