International Ballet Will Hold Conference In Amsterdam

Dutch National Ballet is organising its second international ballet conference, Positioning Ballet. Following the first successful conference in 2017, international leaders of the ballet world will once again come together in Amsterdam to debate and reflect on topical themes.
The conference will be officially opened by the Dutch Minister of Education, Culture and Science, Ingrid van Engelshoven.
The international participants include more than forty artistic directors from leading dance companies and many prominent opinion makers, choreographers, dancers, festival directors and journalists from five continents.
Important questions addressed in this edition include:
How can the art of ballet, which originated in the 17th century, remain relevant to 21st-century audiences? How do ballet companies deal with the rapidly changing relationships between company and audience, and between choreographers and dancers? And what of type of leadership is required of today's artistic directors?
Ted Brandsen, director Dutch National Ballet:
"By initiating Positioning Ballet, Dutch National Ballet has created a unique platform for leaders of the ballet sector to enter into dialogue about the various artistic visions and ways of working, and to take a closer look at them together. Once again in 2019, we are proud to be the organiser and host of an event that is a source of inspiration for the future of ballet all over the world".
Positioning Ballet will take place from Friday 15 to Sunday 17 February 2019 in Dutch National Opera and Ballet, Amsterdam.
