THE OUTSIDERS Runs Through 10/5 at Lakewood Theater

By:

Lakewood Theater Company continues its successful 2014 season with their production of The Outsiders, beginning Friday, September 19, 2014 and running through Sunday, October 5, 2014.

Directed by Heather Alexander, The Outsiders deals with real young people, seen through the eyes of young Ponyboy, a Greaser on the wrong side of life, caught up in territorial battles between the have-it-made rich kids - the Socs - and his tough, underprivileged "greaser" family and friends. In the midst of urban warfare, somehow Ponyboy can't forget a short poem that speaks of their fragile young lives:

Nature's first green is gold, Her hardest hue to hold. Her early leaf's a flower; But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf. So Eden sank to grief,
so dawn goes down to day. Nothing gold can stay.

The cast includes a diverse mix of actors, many of whom are new to the Lakewood Theatre stage: featuring Sammy Salerno as Ponyboy Curtis, Daniel DeVault (last seen in the well- received production of Equus) as Dallas Winston, Taylor Killingsworth as Johnny Cade, Kelsey Holland as Cherry Valance, Joseph Lovell as Darry Curtis, Lucas Hames as Sodapop Curtis, and Matt Salerno as Two-Bit Matthews, among many talented others. The script was adapted for the stage by Christopher Sergel, based on the book by S. E. Hinton.

Showtimes are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 pm, with Sunday matinees at 2:30 pm. Ticket prices are $14 for adults, and $10 students/seniors/military. Tickets can be obtained at www.TicketsNashville.com; a limited amount of reservations are available through the Lakewood box office at 615-847-0934. Group rates are available. Lakewood Theatre Company is located at 2211 Old Hickory Blvd., Old Hickory, TN 37138.
