Winner of 8 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, SPRING AWAKENING takes its inspirationfrom one of literature's most controversial masterpieces - a work so daring in its depiction of teenage self- discovery, it was banned from the stage and not performed in its complete form in English for nearly 100 years.

Set in late-19th century Germany, the rock musical SPRING AWAKENING explores the confusion and desperation that ensue when the onrushing tide of hormones meets the ignorance of children. With an electrifying score by Duncan Sheik, alternative rock is employed as part of the folk-infused rock score. Haunting and provocative, SPRING AWAKENING celebrates the unforgettable journey from youth to adulthood with power, poignancy, and passion.

Hailed as the "Best Musical of the Year" by the NY Drama Critics Circle, the Drama Desk, the Outer Critics Circle and the Tony Awards, SPRING AWAKENING emerged as the most talked about musical on Broadway. "Broadway may never be the same. This brave new musical, haunting and electrifying by turns, restores the mystery and the thrill to that shattering transformation that stirs in all of our souls." Charles Isherwood, The New York Times; "The most explosive new musical since RENT!" Michael Sommers, The Star-Ledger.

The show is rated R for mature themes, sexual situations and strong language.

SRING AWAKENING is directed by Martha Wilkinson, with musical direction by Rollie Mains and
choreography by Holly Shepherd. The cast stars Claire Kaputska, Caleb Marshall, Ryan Garrett, Kacie Phillips, Piper Jones, Christian Redden and many more young talents from the Nashville area. Street Theatre Company is supported by Metro Nashville Arts Commission and Tennessee Arts Commission.

SPRING AWAKENING runs May 10 through 26. Tickets are $18 for adults and $16 for students and seniors, and group rates are available.
