Street Theatre Company Presents HAIR for a One-weekend In Concert performance!
Street Theatre Company brings Nashville the hit musical HAIR as its sixth "In Concert" production. After closing on Broadway in the early 1970s, it was revived and won the 2009 Tony for Best Revival of a Musical. Defining the genre of a Rock Musical, HAIR tells the story of a politically active group of hippies living in NYC and protesting the Vietnam War. Though a product of the 1960s, its themes of race, religion, and sexuality are still relevant today.
"Fresh, frank, and unassuming" (The New York Times), the production features all of the musical's songs and dialogue in a stylized In Concert performance that has become one of STC's most popular innovations. The cast features Russ Evers, Ryan Greenawalt, LaDarra Jackel, Justin Boyd, Piper Jones, along with the talented cast of about 30 area singers.
This production is rated R due to strong themes and explicit language.
Hair in Concert is directed by Cathy Street, with musical direction by Rollie Mains. Street Theatre Company is supported by Metro Nashville Arts Commission and Tennessee Arts Commission. Hair in Concert runs December 4-8, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday at 8, Saturday at 2 & 8, Sunday at 5. Tickets are $18 for adults and $16 for students and seniors For specific events, more information and to purchase tickets, visit www.streettheatrecompany.org.
