Six Degrees of Separation Comes to Street Theatre 11/19-12/5

Everybody on this planet is separated by only six other people. I find it extremely comforting that we're so close, and like Chinese water torture that we're so close..." So says Ouisa Kittredge in this mesmerizing play Six Degrees of Separation by John Guare and directed by Paul Cook.

A young black con man bursts his way into the lives of two wealthy NYC art dealers, professing to be a friend of their kids' from Harvard. They soon learn that he is not all he seems to be, and their investigations lead them to re-evaluate their lives in a fascinating story that explores liberal guilt, greed, loveless families, and false aesthetics.

"In this day and age of Facebook and other social media, the play couldn't be more relevant," says Cathy Street, Artistic Director of Street Theatre Company. "We feel so connected to so many people, yet do we really KNOW who these people are?" Newcomer Bralyn Stokes, starring as Paul, adds, "There are so many levels and colors to Paul. On the surface he may seem to be a crazy, delusional young man when in digging deeper, he is really seeking the universal desire to belong and be accepted."
