Cumberland County Playhouse presents an all-new musical version of Sleepy Hollow by Tony Award nominees Hunter Foster and Paul Gordon, running October 13-November 11 in Crossville.

"We're thrilled to give our Playhouse audiences the very first look at this exciting new show," says producing director Bryce McDonald. "And it's a perfect choice for the Halloween season."

Sleepy Hollow is described as "a bold new take" on Washington Irving's familiar story. Schoolmaster Ichabod Crane (Blake Graham, Beauty and the Beast) has left his home in Boston to teach the children of Sleepy Hollow, New York. But he soon learns that all is not what it seems in the quiet little town. People are disappearing one by one and legend has it that the victims are being taken by a Headless Horseman. The town, wary of any outsiders, becomes fearful of the books and teachings Ichabod brings to the village. And when Ichabod falls in love with Katrina Van Tassel (Harli Cooper, Beauty and the Beast), their blossoming romance ultimately leads to jealousy, mistrust, and then finally, betrayal, as we learn that some of the darkest monsters are the ones that lie within.

Sleepy Hollow also features Britt Hancock (Lying in State) as Brom Van Brunt, Weslie Webster (Gypsy) as Henriette Van Brunt, Jason Ross (The Odd Couple) as Baltus Van Tassel, Daniel Black (Million Dollar Quartet) as Charles Claassen, Caitlin Schaub (The Diary of Anne Frank) as Marie Claassen, Lauren Marshall (Sister Act) as Xandra Vos, Brett Mutter (Smoke on the Mountain) as Constable Vos, and Michael Ruff (Sister Act) as Ellis. Young actors David Kappel (The Addams Family) and RoBert Walker (A Christmas Story) will alternate in the pivotal role of Pieter Claassen. Sleepy Hollow is directed by Playhouse New Works Director John Fionte (Golden Boy of the Blue Ridge), with music direction by Ron Murphy.

Originally commissioned in 2011 by the Signature Theatre in Arlington Virginia, Sleepy Hollow features a new book by Tony nominee Hunter Foster (Summer of '42, Jasper in Deadland) and new music and lyrics by Tony nominee Paul Gordon (Jane Eyre, Daddy Long Legs).

Currently at the Playhouse: Lying in State in the Adventure Theater, through October 6, and The Drowsy Chaperone on the Mainstage, through October 27.
