Regional Premiere of LITTLE MERMAID Closes Out Circle Players' Season
The Little Mermaid, described as "a hauntingly beautiful love story for the ages," closes out Circle Players' 2015-16 season with a June 3-19 run at Nashville's Z. Alexander Looby Theatre. Brittany Blaire Anderson directs and musical directs, with choreography by Bakari King and assistant musical direction by Kelsi Fulton. Hatty King stars as Ariel.
With music by eight-time Academy Award winner Alan Menken, this fishy fable will capture your heart with its irresistible songs including "Under the Sea," "Kiss the Girl" and "Part of Your World."
In the story, based upon a tale by Hans Christian Andersen, Ariel, King Triton's youngest daughter, wishes to pursue the human Prince Eric in the world above and bargains with the evil sea witch, Ursula, to trade her tail for legs. But the bargain is not what it seems and Ariel needs the help of her colorful friends Flounder the fish, Scuttle the seagull, and Sebastian the crab to restore order under the sea.
Circle's production is the regional premiere of the full Broadway version of The Little Mermaid. It is not the Junior version.
Performances are at the Z. Alexander Looby Theater, 2301 Rosa L. Parks Boulevard, Nashville, running June 3-10. Curtain is at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Satruday. Sunday matinees, on June 5 and 12, are at 3 p.m. Tickets are $18 for adults, $15 for students and seniors. Tickets are available online at www.circleplayers.net. Thursday performances are pay-what-you-can, and tickets are on sale in the Looby Theatre lobby one hour prior to each performance. The Little Mermaid The Little Mermaid
