KIT KAT CLUB to Present Musical Journey Through the '30s at Roxy Regional Theatre

By:
Despite global panic in the 1930s, people found themselves rallying the only way they knew how -- through music. Famed composer of the period Ira Gershwin once said, "A song without music is a lot like H2 without the O."

Leading in to Season 34, the Roxy Regional Theatre is presenting a musical journey through the decade, cabaret style, with the new musical revue KIT KAT CLUB, August 26 - September 10.

Created by Ryan Bowie and Sidney McCarty and directed by Bowie, this new musical revue is being presented as part of the Roxy's "On The Terrazzo" Series, which features performances in the intimate setting of the theatre's lobby.

Vocalists Katherine Sandoval Taylor, Reyna Bolton and Emily Rourke, accompanied by Matthew McNeill on piano, will have audiences reminiscing and singing along to such favorites as "Stormy Weather," "I Got Rhythm," "Bewitched, Bothered & Bewildered," "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," "Rhapsody in Blue," "Moonlight Serenade" and two dozen other songs made popular in the '30s.

Asheville native Katherine Sandoval Taylor has appeared in oratorio, concert, musical theatre and opera performances throughout the Southeast, while Wisconsin native and current Clarksville resident Reyna Bolton has previously performed with the Nashville Symphony Chorus. Most recently appearing on the Roxy Regional Theatre mainstage as Whitley Whitiker, The Head Cheerleader, in The Awesome '80s Prom, Georgia native Emily Rourke's past Roxy credits also include Ivy Smith in On the Town, Sally in The Cat in the Hat and Bianca in The Taming of the Shrew.

Performances run August 26 through September 10 on Thursdays at 7:00pm and Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00pm.

Tickets are $20 (including a beverage and light refreshments) and may be reserved online at www.roxyregionaltheatre.org, by phone at 931-645-7699, or at the theatre during regular box office hours (9:00am to 2:00pm, Monday through Friday, and one hour prior to curtain). A limited number of tables and chairs are available, and seating is general admission, so reservations are strongly recommended.

KIT KAT CLUB is made possible in part through the generous support of Hugh & Joy Hatcher.
