Garcia Prize for Best Novel Awarded

By:
Novelist Michel Bruneau has been awarded The Garcia Memorial Prize for his newest novel, My Author is Dead. An annual award presented in conjunction with the national Reader Views Book Awards, The Garcia Memorial Prize is awarded to the best fiction book of the year.

A genre-defying satire set in a dystopian society, My Author is Dead is neither a typical dystopian novel, nor typical satire. Atypically atypical, My Author is Dead is wildly different, wildly unusual-and wildly entertaining.

About My Author is Dead: For sure, Adam is weird-although "weird" is all relative. Weird is problematic, but tolerable. What's forbidden though is talking to Kafkaists, who are nothing but dangerous worms guilty of "moral turpitude"-cockroaches that the Author most probably forgot to erase. So helping Kafkaists wasn't the brightest thing to do.

Unfortunately, he didn't have a choice. For one, June was a Kafkaist-cockroaches can't possibly have such dazzling blue eyes. Second, well... he had to make things right.

All he needed was a plan. An infallible plan. In normal circumstances-although "normal" is all relative-it's that simple.

If only Adam was good at making plans.

Michel Bruneau's blend of deadpan humor and keen eye for the nonsensical side of human nature underlie his original perspective on contemporary existence. In the technical realm, he has been an earthquake engineer for over 20 years, doing his share to reduce the risks of infrastructure collapse. As a professor and researcher, he has published extensively and has received many awards for his work. As a novelist, Bruneau faces the herculean task of trying to referee the epic struggle between the left and right sides of his brain. Born in Québec City, expatriated by the demands of work, he lives in Buffalo, enjoying its comparatively balmy winters, and Florida. Visit Michel Bruneau online at: http://michelbruneau.com/

Published by CePages Press, My Author is Dead is available in trade paper and eBook editions.

The Reader Views Awards is an annual literary awards program that recognizes excellence in independent publishing.

Founded in 2005, Reader Views (www.readerviews.com ) is based in Austin, Texas. The Garcia Memorial Prize honors the life and memory of Garcia, one of the finest Old English Sheepdogs to have ever roamed the earth.
