ACT 1 presents Tony Kushner's seminal theatrical achievement Angels in America, parts 1 and 2, at the Darkhorse Theatre March 11-25.

Presented in partnership with Carlton Cornett LCSW and DeWayne Fulton, the production gives Nashville area audiences a rare opportunity to see both parts of Kushner's award-winning work at the same time. Angels in America: A Gay Fantasia on National Themes was the winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, the Tony Award for Best Play and the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Play.

The two parts of the play are often presented separately, entitled Millennium Approaches and Perestroika, respectively. However, in this special engagement and in partnership with Carlton Cornett, LCSW & DeWayne Fulton, ACT 1 presents both parts in a limited engagement.

Complex, often metaphorical, and at times a symbolic examination of AIDS and homosexuality in America in the 1980s, Angels in America provides audiences the chance for introspection and contemplation as the story unfolds around the challenges of illness, spirituality, relationships and life.

Angels in America is directed by Jim Manning (Part 1) and Lane Wright (Part 2), and features two casts bringing the characters to life, including Gregory Alexander, Bradley Moore, Brett Myers, Liz Walsh, Lanie Shannon, Meggan Utech, AaRon Smith, and Geoff Davin in Part 1, and Shawn Cornelius, Matt Moran, Joe Blankenship, Rachel Sweeny, Cat Arnold, Hillary Morris, Shawn Whitsell, and Macon Kimbrough in Part 2.

Part 1 Millennium Approaches premieres at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 11, with Part 2 Perestroika premiering at 7 p.m. later that same day. Remaining shows are as follows: Part 1: 2 p.m. on March 12, 18, 19 and 25, and at 7 p.m. on March 14, 16, 21 and 23. Part 2 is presented at 7 p.m. on March 12, 15, 17, 18, 19, 22, 24 and 25.

Tickets are $15 for each part of Angels in America, or $25 for a combo ticket that includes admission to both show and can be found at www.tickets.act1online.com. All shows are performed at the Darkhorse Theater at 4610 Charlotte Pike. Due to the length of the plays all evening shows will begin at 7 p.m.
