Centaur Theatre Extends 4000 MILES Run Through 4/26

The PSC Community Theatre presents their next play by Montreal playwright Colleen Curran, LOCAL TALENT. There will be only six performances, which are likely to sell out in advance. All performances take place at the Old Bank at 1900 Wellington St. in Point St. Charles, and the cost is a suggested donation of $8.00.
Peter Ash Set for Post-Show Discussion After Scapegoat Carnivale Theatre's BLIND Tonight

In Tanzania, the body parts of people with albinism are made into expensive potions, which have spawned a slew of mutilations and murders since 2007. Peter Ash, a native Montrealer, founded the charity organisation Under the Same Sun (UTSS) in response to these killings. UTSS is the only international charity working in Tanzania to prevent violence against people with albinism. When asked about his work with UTSS, Ash said: 'I have albinism myself. These are my brothers and sisters getting slaughtered, what can I do to help? I can't sit idly by here in Canada and do nothing.' Tonight, April 11, Peter Ash will speak and participate in a post-show discussion at the MAI (Montreal, arts interculturels).

Hudson Village Theatre's Artistic Director Heather Markgraf-Lowe Resigns

As of August 31st, 2014, Heather Markgraf-Lowe is stepping down as the part-time Artistic Director of the Hudson Village Theatre (HVT). Markgraf-Lowe confided, 'I want to explore several exciting opportunities and I know I am leaving Hudson Village Theatre in good hands.' Ms Markgraf-Lowe selected her final season of plays and looks forwards to another successful summer of entertainment. Kalina Skulska, HVT's Executive Director added that, 'It was a pleasure to work with Heather for the past three years, witnessing the passion and commitment she has for the grassroots initiative that began as a tent in a field more than twenty years ago'. At the March 19th AGM, the HVT Board of Directors thanked Ms Markgraf-Lowe for her time and dedication and wished her continued success in her future endeavours.
Scapegoat Carnivale Theatre to Present BLIND at MAI, 4/3-13

Scapegoat Carnivale Theatre, in collaboration with the MAI (Montreal, arts interculturels), willpresent the world premiere of this significant new work, Blind. Playwright Lindsay Wilson, affected by an article about people with albinism in East Africa being hunted and violently murdered for their body parts, boarded a plane to Tanzania to volunteer and observe. This resulted in Blind, a new play directed by Alison Darcy which will be performed at the MAI from April 3-13. At its heart, Blind reflects our current climate- the debate around the 'different other'. Throughout the run donations will be raised for Under the Same Sun, a charity working to improve the lives of people with albinism.
