Montreal's premiere storytelling event - without notes, props or gimmicks - returns to the MainLine Theatre stage (3997blvd St Laurent) for a very special night of stories on Saturday May 2, at 8PM. Confabulation has reached that elusive benchmark in the cultural scene - the 5th anniversary!
As spring forges on and summer approaches, producers Matt Goldberg (Uncalled For) and Paul Aflalo (No More Radio) invite Montrealers to enjoy a night of revelry about the city we hold dear.
Based on the concept of NYC's the Moth, Confabulation engages people of all walks of life to tell a story - but with a few guidelines: it has to be theirs, it has to be true, and it has to be told without a script in hand or props to help.
Matt Goldberg started Confabulation in 2010 as a challenge to himself and his peers to find their own stories. As he explains, "I asked my friends to draw out and explore seminal moments in their lives; those moments where they became themselves". Since then, Confabulation has produced over 60 shows, almost 300 stories, and 28 podcasts for thousands of fans.
Saturday night will be a show, a celebration (with cake!), and a victory, with stories from veteran storytellers Johanna Nutter (My Pregnant Brother), Vance Gillis, Nisha Coleman, Cassandra Togneri, Gerard Harris, and Matt Goldberg himself who have been dared to use Montreal as their muse.
Tickets are available at the door or in advance at www.mainline.ca.
