Park Square continues its 42nd season on the Proscenium Stage with Madeleine George's time-traveling romance The (curious case of the) Watson Intelligence, staged by Leah Cooper. Spanning three centuries and many loves (mostly human), Watson is a play about real and synthetic intelligence and empathy; comfort and loneliness, desire, fulfillment and compromise. The play was a finalist for the 2014 Pulitzer Prize.

Four Watsons: trusty sidekick to Sherlock Holmes; loyal engineer who built Bell's first telephone; unstoppable super-computer that became reigning "Jeopardy" champ; amiable techno-dweeb just looking for love. This brilliantly witty, time-jumping, loving tribute is dedicated to the people - and machines - upon which we depend.

"It's not a play about time travel, and it's not a play about science. It's really a play about making yourself vulnerable to love," says Leah Cooper. Playwright Madeleine George said in an interview last year, "The purpose of technology is to improve comfort and ease, and that's a worthy purpose, but the fact of the matter is there's no improving the comfort of relationships .... To think that you're going to be able to bring technological improvement to bear on what is in some ways the most intractable problem of our existence: other people."

The (curious case of the) Watson Intelligence stars Kathryn Fumie, H. Adam Harris,* and Adam Whisner.

The production team for The (curious case of the) Watson Intelligence includes Lance Brockman (Set Designer), Katharine Horowitz (Sound Designer), Michael P. Kittel (Lighting Designer), Kathy Kohl (Costume Designer) and Sadie Ward (Properties Designer). Amanda K. Bowman* is Stage Manager, Samantha Diekman and Rachel Lantow share the role of Assistant Stage Managers.
