This holiday season "Llama Llama Holiday Drama" debuts at Stages Theatre Company when it opens Nov. 22 at the Hopkins Center for the Arts. Based on the New York Times bestselling book written by Anna Dewdney the story centers around a little llama who is anxiously waiting for the holiday season to start. Adapted by Playwright Jennifer Kirkeby and Composer Shirley Mier this musical begins days prior to the holidays.

"Our production follows the book closely as Llama Llama goes shopping with Mama Llama, to school and home. There are some fun additions like a visit from grandma and grandpa Llama and a Llama Dazzle Parade," says Kirkeby.

Written for the entire family, the production delivers a classic message that despite the excitement and expectations we all have around the holiday season, the true meaning is about the love that we have for each other.

As audience members enter the Hopkins Center for the Arts on opening night of "Llama Llama Holiday Drama" they will be welcomed by llamas courtesy of Carlson's Loveable Llamas before the 7 p.m. show. The cast from "Llama Llama Holiday Drama" will appear at the Mall of America for Toddler Tuesday on Dec. 3 beginning at 10 a.m. and will perform a medley of musical hits from the production.

For the fourth year, STC is participating in the annual Toys for Tots campaign. The toy drive ends Friday, Dec. 20. Located in the main lobby of the Hopkins Center for the Arts is a Toys for Tots box. The age range is 0 to 16, with most need in the 0 - 3 (boys and girls) and 16 (girl) age range. We encourage you, if you can, to make a child's holiday season a little brighter.

"Llama Llama Holiday Drama" opens Nov. 22 and ends Dec. 29, with a run time of 60 minutes and is suitable for all ages. Tickets can be purchased by visiting www.stagestheatre.org for performance dates and times, or by calling the Box Office at (952) 979-1111, Tuesday through Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for children (ages 5 to 17) and seniors (60+). Lap passes are available for free (ages 0 to 2) and $5 (ages 3 to 4).

Stages Theatre Company was founded in 1984 and since then has grown to become one of the largest professional theatres for young audiences in the country.
