The Guthrie Theater today unveiled an online virtual tour, offering a new way to explore the acclaimed Minneapolis cultural destination designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Jean Nouvel. Opened in 2006 along the banks of the Mississippi River, the 285,000-square-foot theater center is open to the public daily at 8 a.m., and has served as an anchor in the rebirth of Minneapolis' historic Mill District, while attracting visitors from around the globe. Created by Minnesota-based CircaVista, the new interactive journey lets visitors explore five floors of public spaces, offering a great preview of the sweeping panoramic views enjoyed from the Guthrie's signature Endless Bridge, as well as a look inside each of the three performance spaces. To take the virtual tour, visit www.guthrietheater.org/virtualtour.

The new tour will be a great tool and virtual ‘souvenir' for Guthrie visitors, especially as the theater gears up for a busy travel season. Two productions take to the stages of the Guthrie this summer, led by Yasmina Reza's God of Carnage (May 28 - August 7). This hilarious hit comedy about two high-powered couples who meet for a civil discussion about a playground fight between their sons quickly morphs into a laugh-out-loud, train wreck of an evening among savages. John Miller-Stephany will direct the production (casting to be announced shortly), which enjoyed a successful 2009 London to Broadway transfer, playing for 476 performances and winning the Tony Award for Best Play. A film adaptation, directed by Roman Polanski and starring Jodie Foster, John C. Reilly, Kate Winslet and Christoph Waltz, is currently in production in Paris.

Gilbert and Sullivan's H.M.S. Pinafore (June 18 - August 28), under the helm of Joe Dowling, drops anchor on the Wurtele Thrust Stage. Robert O. Berdahl, most recently seen in the comedic thriller The 39 Steps, will play H.M.S. commander Captain Corcoran, with Christina Baldwin (The Winter's Tale, The Great Gatsby, She Loves Me, The Pirates of Penzance) as Little Buttercup. With its infectious songs, witty libretto and lighthearted satire, Pinafore is destined to help make the Guthrie this summer's favorite port of call. Full casting will be announced shortly.

Single tickets for God of Carnage and Gilbert and Sullivan's H.M.S. Pinafore are now on sale through the Guthrie Box Office at 612.377.2224, toll-free 877.44.STAGE, 612.225.6244 (Group Sales) and online at www.guthrietheater.org.

Open to the public daily at 8 a.m., there are many ways to explore the Guthrie in-person, including backstage tours, self-guided audio tours and an in-depth architectural tour. For complete tour information, visit www.guthrietheater.org/visit/guthrie_tours or call the Guthrie Box Office at 612.377.2224.
