The Guthrie Theater today announced complete casting and the full creative team for its production of Adam Rapp's The Edge of Our Bodies, an intimate and intriguing story of a young woman at the threshold of adulthood on a harrowing journey in search of experience.

As previously announced, Ali Rose Dachis-who wowed audiences last year with her turn as Lauren in the Guthrie's Circle Mirror Transformation-will take on the role of Bernadette, a young woman on a journey. Dachis is a 2009 graduate of the University of Minnesota/Guthrie Theater B.F.A. Actor Training Program. Twin Cities favorite Steve Sweere, who was recently seen in the Guthrie's production of A Streetcar Named Desire, will make a brief appearance as the Maintenance Man. Guthrie Associate Director of Studio Programming Benjamin McGovern will direct this powerful and insightful story. The Edge of Our Bodies will begin preview performances on October 22 and officially open on October 26.

It's a bitter winter night when 16-year-old Bernadette, an aspiring short story writer, boards a train to New York City carrying her notebook and important news for her boyfriend. What follows is a poetic and captivating coming-of-age story as Bernadette intimately shares her encounters along the way and the devastating result of her visit, a journey punctuated both by a need to be heard and an aching desire to disappear.

The Edge of Our Bodies marks the Guthrie's first-ever production of Obie Award-winning playwright Adam Rapp's work. Rapp is one of America's most prolific young authors whose credits include HBO's "In Treatment," the film Winter Passing, and productions at Playwrights Horizons, New York Theatre Workshop and Steppenwolf Theatre. This shockingly articulate piece was praised by The New York Times for its "striking imagery" and "elegant prose."

The artistic team includes Michael Hoover (Set Designer), Christine A. Richardson (Costume Designer), Ryan Connealy (Lighting Designer), C. Andrew Mayer (Sound Designer), Lucinda Holshue (Vocal Consultant), Tree O'Halloran (Stage Manager), Sarah Howell (Production Assistant) and Cristina Castro (Assistant Director).

The Edge of Our Bodies begins preview performances on October 22, opens October 26 and continues through November 20 in the Dowling Studio at the Guthrie Theater. Single tickets start at $24 and are now on sale through the Guthrie Box Office at 612.377.2224, toll-free 877.44.STAGE, 612.225.6244 (Group Sales) and online at www.guthrietheater.org.
