Akram Khan Company Comes To The Walker Arts Center
By: Gabrielle Sierra
Akram Khan Company presents bahok Wed, Mar, 3, 8:00 pm at Northrop
"In a moment of crisis, everybody must come together no matter what the language and culture." - Akram Khan
Ever wonder what it would be like to be trapped in an elevator surrounded by only people of different cultures and languages? The London-based Akram Khan Company captures just that with eight dancers brought together from China, Spain, Slovakia, India, South Korea, Taiwan and South Africa. This contemporary work recreates what happens when these strangers try to communicate, to exchange their stories, their memories of home, and their dreams. They are carriers of their homes. They are bahok.
