As Wisconsin's only Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender (LGBT) Film/Video Festival and one of Milwaukee's longest-running film festivals, the 2010 Milwaukee LGBT Film/Video Festival -- the 23rd Annual edition -- will offer four days of films, including regional premieres of international dramatic features, a series of documentaries on LGBT life from around the world, and film and video work celebrating LGBT performance, song and dance.
The hit New Zealand documentary film, Topp Twins: Untouchable Girls, will open the Festival on Thursday, October 21 at the Oriental Theatre and the Bahamian drama Children of God will close the series on Sunday, October 24 in the UWM Union Theatre. In addition, for the first time, the Festival will host a free Documentary Salon, during the Annual Festival in October, which will present, in repeated screenings, award-winning documentaries chronicling LGBT life. New this year, the Festival will continue after October's event, with monthly screenings on the first Thursday of almost every month, commencing on Thursday, November 4. "We are thrilled to announce this year's Milwaukee LGBT Film/Video Festival line-up," says Festival director and UWM Peck School of the Arts Film lecturer Carl Bogner. "Our revised format gives us more opportunities to showcase LGBT films and videos - new and classic - all year long while still hosting a Festival that remains one of the annual highlights for the LGBT and film-loving communities. And, with many films celebrating music, dance, and theater, the Peck School of the Arts is the perfect host."Event and Ticket Details
The Festival will take place from October 21-24; confirmed dates for monthly films are November 4 and December 2, with additional dates forthcoming.
