Williamston Theatre Receives Grants from Tourism Fund

The Williamston Theatre has been awarded a grant from the Ingham County Hotel/Motel Grant Fund in support of its marketing initiatives to out-of-county residents. The Arts Council of Greater Lansing administers the award funding.

"We're incredibly grateful to be chosen to receive this funding," said Williamston Theatre's Executive Director John Lepard. "This will allow us to promote our programming beyond the Greater Lansing region. There is a loyal live theatre audience throughout Michigan. Out-of-county visitors coming to the Williamston Theatre have a positive impact on our local economy."

Ingham County Hotel/Motel Funds for Arts & Tourism was established to support the production of publicity and promotional materials utilized to attract out-of-county visitors into Ingham County. Non-profit organizations located in Ingham County established primarily for cultural, educational, artistic, historical or entertainment purposes are eligible to apply. Ingham County Hotel/Motel Funds for Arts and Tourism funding totaling $124,776.04 for 2017 was awarded to the following recipients: All-of-us Express Children's Theatre; Common Ground Music Festival; East Lansing Art Festival; East Lansing Film Festival; Fenner Conservancy; Impression 5 Science Center; Jazz Alliance of Mid-Michigan; Lansing Art Gallery; Lansing Symphony Association, Inc.; Michigan Institute for Contemporary Art; Michigan Women's Historical Center & Hall of Fame; MSU Museum; MSU Science Festival; Old Town Commercial Association; REO Town Commercial Association; Summer Solstice Jazz Festival; Wharton Center for Performing Arts and Williamston Theatre.

The Williamston Theatre's current production is the Michigan Premiere of 1984, by George Orwell, Adapted by Michael Gene Sullivan, in performance through April 23, 2017. Additional information is available on the Theatre's website at www.williamstontheatre.org or by calling (517) 655-7469.
