Williamston Theatre Announces 09-10 Season, Including Two World Premieres And A Musical

Mid-Michigan's newest professional theatre company, the Williamston Theatre, 122 S. Putnam in downtown Williamston, begins its fourth season this October. The 2009-2010 Season includes two World Premieres and a musical: Infinite Ache by David Schulner, This Wonderful Live by Steve Murray, The Smell of the Kill by Michelle Lowe, It Came from Mars by Joseph Zettelmaier, Home: Voices From Families of the Midwest by Annie Martin and Suzi Reagan, Series Concept by Tony Caselli, and Five Course Love with Book, Music and Lyrics by Gregg Coffin.

Four of the six productions will begin with five Preview performances. During the first four Previews (please note there is no 3PM Preview on Saturdays) audience members will have the opportunity to take part in the process of creating a show by participating in a talkback session with the director following each performance. Performances are Thursdays and Fridays at 8PM, Saturdays at 3PM and 8PM, Sundays at 2PM. There will only be one Preview for This Wonderful Live and It Came from Mars.

An Infinite Ache is a fresh and heartfelt play about love, time and the infinite directions in which two lives can travel. As a pair of lonely twenty-somethings are about to end a supremely uninteresting first date, the myriad of possibilities of their futures and a life shared together come rushing to meet them. From first date to first child, from tragedy to new beginnings, this is a love story filled with humor, warmth, dazzling theatrical magic and a hope that second dates are worth the effort! This Wonderful Life brings the beloved American film classic, It's A Wonderful Life, to the stage. Williamston Theatre's own John Lepard will play more than 30 roles in this one-man tour de force that delivers a witty and moving story that is sure to capture your heart and captivate your spirit. This Wonderful Life reminds us of the power of perspective, friendship and family. A holiday experience for the whole family.

Directed by Tony Caselli. November 27 - December 20, 2009. The Pay-What-You-Can performance will be at 3PM on Friday, November 27.

The Smell Of The Kill - Three women, their husbands, and a deep freezer. With social commentary both hilarious and biting, this dark comedy about men, women, marriage and malice explores the dangerous desire to keep up appearances... at any cost. (Contains mature themes.)

A co-production with Tipping Point Theatre. Directed by Kristine Thatcher. February 4 - March 7, 2010.

It Came From Mars, a special Limited Engagement World Premiere!! Halloween, 1938. Six actors are in rehearsal when they hear an alarming announcement come over the radio - Martians have landed! Honesty and hilarity ensue when the dramatic dramatists are faced with true drama. (Contains adult language and themes.)

A co-production with Performance Network. Featuring Sandra Birch, Jacob Hodgson, Paul Hopper, Alysia Kolascz and Wayne David Parker. Directed by Tony Caselli. March 31 - April 18, 2010. The Pay-What-You-Can performance will be at 8PM on Wednesday, March 31.

Home: Voices From Families of the Midwest, the final installment of our groundbreaking Voices From the Midwest trilogy. Using the voices of both young and old, the creative team behind Maidens, Mothers and Crones, explores the concept of family and its many definitions. Through song, scenes, and monologues, we'll examine how family both includes and transcends bloodlines, defining our worlds in very personal ways. A family friendly theatrical experience.

Directed by Suzi Regan. May 13 - June 13, 2010.

Five Course Love - One night ... Three actors ... Five restaurants ... Fifteen characters ... Welcome to Five Course Love! The endearing and often elusive search for love has never been played out more colorfully than in this high-energy, screwball, musical comedy. With a breathtaking range of musical styles, Five Course Love is a delicious look at the chance for romance. (Contains mature themes.)

Directed by Tom Woldt. July 8 - August 15, 2010.

Tickets are Pay-What-You-Can for the first performance of each production. Previews are $15.00. Starting Opening Night tickets prices are $24.00 Friday and Saturday evenings, $20.00 on weekend matinees and $18.00 on Thursday evening. Special rates are available for groups of 10 or more.
