Who Wants Cake? Presents SHINING CITY At The Ringwald 10/16-11/8

By:

While Evil Dead keeps audiences howling with bloody laughter downtown, Who Wants Cake? is thrilled to offer a moody and creepy offering at their FernDale Home. Conor McPherson's contemporary ghost story, Shining City, will play Saturdays-Mondays for an exclusive four week run at The Ringwald Theatre from October 16 - November 8, 2010.

Shining City is set in Dublin, where a guilt-ridden man reaches out to a therapist after seeing the ghost of his recently deceased wife. Wrestling with his own demons, the therapist can only do so much to help. Routine visits between the two men quickly become a gripping struggle to survive, changing both of them for the rest of their lives.

Conor McPherson is considered one of the best contemporary playwrights not only in Ireland, but the world. His plays have attracted good reviews, and have been performed internationally (notably in the West End and on Broadway). The Weir won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Play for 1999. Shining City prompted the London Telegraph to describe him as 'the finest dramatist of his generation...' In September 2006, to great critical acclaim, McPherson made his National Theatre debut as both author and director with The Seafarer, which moved to Broadway in October of 2007.

Showtimes for Shining City are Saturday and Monday nights at 8PM with Sunday matinees at 3PM. Tickets for this production are $20 for Saturday night performances, $15 for Sunday matinees and Monday nights are half off regular ticket price at only $10 a ticket! Tickets may be reserved by calling 248-545-5545 or by logging on to www.WhoWantsCakeTheatre.com. All performances of Shining City will take place at The RIngwald Theatre located at 22742 Woodward Avenue in downtown Ferndale, MI 48220.
