Theme Announced for 53rd Annual Danish Festival
The Danish Festival Board of Directors would like to invite everyone to join in the celebration of the 53rd Annual Danish Festival, August 17th to 20th, 2017. The theme this year is The Fir Tree.
First published in 1844 by Danish author Hans Christian Andersen, The Fir Tree is a story about the life of a sad fir tree who was never happy with what he had. He spent his days wishing he was taller. He longed to be something grander like the mast of a tall ship or a beautifully adorned Christmas tree.
Finally, one winter he was chosen to be a Christmas tree. The Fir Tree immediately felt sad and lonely. He began to regret not appreciating what had ultimately been the happiest times of his life.
During the 53rd Annual Danish Festival, The Fir Tree theme will be showcased in the poster contest, parades, and other forms of artwork and events.
