The Ringwald Theatre is reviving their production of Tony Kushner's play A Bright Room Called Day for a special one night only reading on January 19, 2017.

Originally produced by The Ringwald in January 2012, most of the original cast will return for the special performance.
A Bright Room Called Day is the haunting story of a group of artists struggling to preserve themselves in 1930s Berlin as Adolf Hitler rises to power and the Weimar Republic falls to its knees. The play transcends historical drama as we witness the outpourings of a contemporary New York woman who is morally outraged at the United States government of today. The play is, like Angels in America, a genre-defying mixture of literate comedy, serious drama, and political-philosophical meditation.

Reviewing the original Ringwald production, Carolyn Hayes said, "...for viewers who like their plays complete with food for thought, this thoughtful reflection on self-determination in the face of untenable political change is a veritable smorgasbord."

A representative from the ACLU will be on hand to lead a talkback after the performance.

A Bright Room Called Day is directed by Joe Bailey and features the following cast: Jon Ager, Melissa Beckwith, Connie Cowper, Bryan Lark, Michael Lopetrone, Cassandra McCarthy, Lisa Melinn, Richard Payton, Anthony Phiri, and Jamie Warrow.

Doors open 45 minutes before show time. The events are Pay as You Go. We invite you to enjoy the performances and show your generosity on your way out in the form of a donation with cash or credit/debit card. The Ringwald Theatre is located at 22742 Woodward Avenue in the Times Square of downtown Ferndale.
