Set Sail With Stagecrafters' PETER AND THE STARCATCHER

Stagecrafters proudly presents the musical Peter and the Starcatcher opening onstage at the Baldwin Theatre from Friday, November 30 through Sunday, December 16, 2018.

Many people know the adventure-packed story of Peter Pan, but not many know about where he started his journey. Peter and the Starcatcher is the fantastical adventure about how Peter Pan came to be. On a ship bound for the island of Rundoon, three orphan boys befriend Molly, daughter of Starcatcher Lord Aster, who is on a secret mission for the Queen of England. Their precious cargo is starstuff, powerful magical dust that must not fall into the wrong hands. When the villainous Black Stache and his band of pirates attack the ship, one orphan finds his courage and a legend is born. A Play by Rick Elice. Based on the novel by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson. Music by Wayne Barker. This adventure-packed production is rated PG and runs approximately two hours.

This production will feature all sorts of unique characters one of them being Black Stache played by the talented Tony Battle of Royal Oak. "Black Stache is such fun to play. He embodies all that we despise and fear, yet we laugh at his antics and bluster. He's the classic fool who finds himself leading a band of misfit pirates with storybook misadventures too fanciful to take seriously" says Battle.

Peter and the Starcatcher not only has a great cast, but a great vision for the set design. Director Dan Rose's vision of this set will be sure to wow audiences by using some new advances in theatre technology. "For this production, we'll be using a computer-controlled turntable to move our sets and carry the story forward. This new technology integrates perfectly into the frenzy that is the non-stop flow from scene to scene, says Rose."

Peter and the Starcatcher is sure to be a great time and to see the adventures before the characters became who they are today. "I think our audiences will find a fun, engaging and very interesting look at how Peter Pan and all the fantastic characters involved emerged as legend in our culture," says Battle.

With the holiday season approaching quickly, this production is a wonderful opportunity to give the gift of theatre to friends and family.
