Sauk To Stage ANATOMY OF A MURDER In Courtroom Image

The Sauk, Hillsdale County's community theatre, is excited to announce an additional performance of their upcoming production of ANATOMY OF A MURDER. This special, one-night-only performance will take place in the Hillsdale County Courthouse, 29 N. Howell Street in Hillsdale.

"Anatomy of a Murder" tells the story of Paul Biegler. Defeated for re-election as District Attorney, Biegler isn't looking forward to becoming a defense attorney, but his first case is sensational: a lieutenant is accused of murdering the bartender who allegedly raped his wife. It's a high-stakes battle of wit and determination as Biegler uses every device to save the officer's neck.
"We will stage the play in the circuit courtroom that was once presided over by Hillsdale Circuit court Judge Charles O. Arch, Sr.," said Sauk Executive Director Trinity Bird. "Arch is the inspiration for the character Judge Weaver in the play. Arch presided over the real-life case that inspired the play."

"We never thought when we shot our poster image in front of the courthouse that we would be performing this great drama inside it," Bird added. "We are grateful to the Hillsdale County Board of Commissioners for their support of this special event."

The courtroom performance will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 17 at 8 p.m. All tickets to this special performance are $15 and can be purchased online now at www.thesauk.org. Tickets can be purchased in-person at The Sauk or over the phone at 517-849-9100 starting Wednesday, Oct. 3. Seating for this performance will be general admission.

Regular performances of the play will take place at 8 p.m. on October 11-13 and 18-20. Matinees will be performed at 3 p.m. on October 14 and 21. All regular performances take place at the Sauk Theatre, 240 E. Chicago St. in Jonesville. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors (55 and up) and students (with a valid i.d.) and $8 for children (12 and under). Tickets can be purchased at www.thesauk.org or by calling 517-849-9100. The October 11 performance is a "Pay What You Can" preview. Preview tickets are not sold in advance. The October 18 performance is $5 senior night.

This production is sponsored by the Southern Michigan Bank & Trust (www.smb-t.com). The 2018 season is sponsored by Expressions Photography & Design (www.expressions.photography). The Sauk is also supported by the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs, the National Endowment of the Arts and their program Art Works.
