Oakland University Begins Theatre Season with BULLETS OVER BROADWAY

Take a trip back in time to the "Roaring Twenties" as Oakland University's Theatre Department opens its season with Bullets Over Broadway the Musical, written by Woody Allen, based on the screenplay for the film Bullets Over Broadway by Woody Allen and Douglas McGrath. The show opens in Varner Studio Theatre at 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 5 and runs for 11 performances between October 5 - 8 and October 11 - 15, 2017.

Nominated for six Tony Awards, Bullets Over Broadway, centers on the production of a new play for the Broadway stage. David, a young playwright desperately in need of financial backing, accepts the aid of a mobster looking to please his showgirl girlfriend. It's an offer David literally can't refuse. Bullets Over Broadway uses songs of the 1920s, which Woody Allen said made the musical come to life. It's loaded with big laughs and colorful characters. Bullets Over Broadway is musical comedy with a bang!

The Wednesday, October 11 performance of Bullets Over Broadway is part of the Oakland University School of Music, Theatre and Dance Celebration Series presented by Oakland University Credit Union. The seven event series will run throughout the 2017-18 performance season to celebrate the inaugural year of the Oakland University School of Music, Theatre and Dance. Varner Studio Theatre is located on the Oakland University campus at 371 Varner Drive. Maps of the campus are available at oakland.edu/map. Ample free parking will be available in lots 26 and 24.

Tickets may be purchased online without service fees at startickets.com or by phone at (800) 585-3737. They can also be purchased at the Varner Box Office on OU's campus. Tickets ordered online or by phone can be picked up at the box office one hour before the performance begins.
