Meadow Brook Theatre Receives $5,000 Grant from Rochester Junior Woman's Club

By:

Meadow Brook Theatre was recently named a 2015 Rochester Junior Woman's Club grant recipient. The $5,000 grant will help to provide new light and sound technology for the Theatre and is one of the first contributions toward the $80,000 project.

The new technology will bring current the Theatre's existing light and sound system and enhance productions for both theatre patrons and performers. "We are grateful to the Rochester Junior Woman's Club for helping make this dream a reality," said Cheryl Marshall, Managing Director of Meadow Brook Theatre. "Light and sound are essential to breathing life into performances by adding details that inspire the imagination. New technology will allow our production staff, designers, directors and actors, to tell each story without the limitations of outdated equipment. It's just another step we're taking to bring Broadway-quality Entertainment to Southeastern Michigan."

The grant will also serve to establish the formal partnership between Meadow Brook Theatre and the Rochester Junior Woman's Club. Since the first curtain call in 1967, Meadow Brook Theatre has relied on the support of community organizations for capital projects, operations and to expand the theatre's presence. In 2003, the community again rallied to keep the Theatre open when it became largely independent of Oakland University. Today, Meadow Brook Theatre is Michigan's largest non-profit producing professional theatre, relying on philanthropy to produce Broadway-quality productions.

Meadow Brook Theatre is a nonprofit, cultural institution located on the campus of Oakland University at 207 Wilson Hall, Rochester, MI 48309. MBT has been serving southeast Michigan for over 45 years. For more information about the theatre, visit www.mbtheatre.com or call 248-377-3300.
