Magenta Giraffe Theatre Company Seeks Submissions for Special Skills Talent Show

By:

Magenta Giraffe Theatre Company today announced its second annual Special Skills Talent Show fundraiser. The show will be hosted by Two Muses Theatre, inside the West Bloomfield Barnes and Noble (6800 Orchard Lake Rd, West Bloomfield, MI 48322, south of Maple Rd.) on Thursday, June 28, 2012, at 7:00 p.m. The entrance fee for performers is $10, with audience admission on a donation basis. Prizes will be awarded to winners in several categories.

Actors all have that section on their résumés: SPECIAL SKILLS. Impersonations, martial arts, singing, playing musical instruments, dancing, juggling, gymnastics, ventriloquism, dialects… Actors can do all kinds of things, but how often do they get to show them off? Well, now’s your chance!

The Special Skills Talent Show is open to any theatre artist with a unique talent he or she would like to exhibit! Prizes of gift certificates to local theatres and businesses will be awarded to the winners of an audience vote in the following categories:

Most Unique
Most Impractical
Most Inappropriate in the Workplace
Most Time Consuming
Most Likely to Go Wrong
Most Likely to See in Las Vegas
Most Enviable
What Were You Thinking When You Taught Yourself This?

If you are interested in showcasing your abilities, please e-mail Frannie Shepherd-Bates at frannie@magentagiraffe.org with the following details no later than June 15, 2012:

·     First and last name
·     Talent to be showcased
·     Length of time required for performance
·     Technical needs (please keep these to a minimum)
·     Phone number

The entrance fee for performers is $10, to be paid in cash or check the night of the talent show. Audience members will be admitted on a donation basis.

Should an overwhelming number of people apply to perform, Magenta Giraffe Theatre Company reserves the right to choose from among the applicants to ensure that the show is not overly long. Such decisions will be made in the interest of presenting a variety of talents.
