KISS ME, KATE Opens at the Village Players, 5/2
Dr. Anton Anderssen
The Village Players of Birmingham presents Cole Porter's delightful musical Kiss Me, Kate throughout the month of May. This rollicking retelling of Shakespeare's "Taming of the Shrew" includes such famous songs as "Another Op'nin, Another Show," "Too Darn Hot," and "So in Love."
"Kiss Me, Kate" tells the story of Lilli Vanessi and Fred Graham, a formerly married couple who are once again teamed up on stage in an off-Broadway musical version of "Taming of the Shrew." The raucous couple's 'battle of the sexes' continues on and off the stage much to the delight of the audience. Thrown into the mix are an ambitious showgirl, a Broadway hoofer with a gambling problem, and singing gangsters. Hilarity ensues as this romantic musical is sure to leave the audience tapping their toes and humming all the way home!
Tickets are just $ 19 and are available online at www.birminghamvillageplayers.com (online handling fees apply) or by calling the box office at (248) 644-2075. All seats are reserved. The Village Players is located at 34600 Woodward Ave., Birmingham.
