Kids Night On Broadway (KNOB) comes to DeVos Performance Hall January 4, 5, 6 & 9, 2011 (matinee & evening performances on the 9th). Kids ages 6-18 can see IN THE HEIGHTS for FREE when accompanied by a full-paying adult! KNOB tickets are now on sale at Ticketmaster.com. This special offer for families is offered through Broadway Grand Rapids as part of the national program, Kids' Night on Broadway, which is an audience development program from The Broadway League.

IN THE HEIGHTS opened on Broadway to wide critical acclaim March 9, 2008. The Washington Post said IN THE HEIGHTS is "PURE BROADWAY. AN EVENING OF OLD-STYLE, INNOCENT PLEASURE" and Ben Brantley of The New York Times enthused IN THE HEIGHTS is "AN EXUBERANT, ANIMATED SHRINE TO THE IMPORTANCE OF FAMILY TIES AND BEING FAITHFUL TO WHERE YOU COME FROM." IN THE HEIGHTS continues to play on Broadway at the Richard Rodgers Theatre.

In addition to winning the 2008 Tony Award for Best Musical, Lin-Manuel Miranda, the show's creator, won the Tony Award for Best Music and Lyrics, Andy Blankenbuehler won for Best Choreography, and Alex Lacamoire and Bill Sherman won for Best Orchestrations. The original cast recording won the 2008 Grammy Award for Best Musical Show Album, and Universal Pictures has acquired the rights to produce a feature film based on the smash hit musical.

IN THE HEIGHTS is affordably priced at $32-$67 and will perform 8 shows at DeVos Performance Hall between Tuesday, January 4 and Sunday, January 9, 2011. Important Information for KNOB Ticket Purchasers

Adults purchasing a full-priced ticket will receive one free ticket for a child age 6-18 to the same show. Complimentary tickets MUST be used by children 6-18. Tickets must be purchased in multiples of two; each ticket prints at half-price. Theatre personnel may ask to see identification of child at the door. Every individual attending must have a ticket. Some shows may not be appropriate for all ages. See show website for details. Parents should use their discretion based on the maturity levels of their children.
Kids' Night Related Activities

In addition to seeing a Broadway show for free, Kids' Night participants will be treated to a host of activities including salsa dancing the hour prior to the show and a talk-back with the cast post-show, during the Wednesday, January 5, 7:30pm performance. League Audience Development Programs

In addition to the annual Kids' Night on Broadway celebration, other League audience development programs targeted at young people include the Educator "Apple" awards, recognizing the efforts of teachers across the country who promote integrating the arts into school curricula, and "Family First Nights," an initiative that encourages family theatregoing. The League also supports education and community development through grants aimed at developing innovative educational programs relating to the presentation of Broadway shows in New York and on tour across the country.
