Go Comedy! Improv Theater Expands Go U! Improv Academy To Include Teens, Kids

Go Comedy! Improv Theater is proud to announce that it is expanding its Go U! Improv Academy to include teen and kids camps this summer in addition to ongoing adult classes. Registration for summer semester is available by calling (248) 327-0575, online at www.gocomedy.net. All classes take place at Go Comedy! Improv Theatre, 261 E. Nine Mile Rd, Ferndale MI 48220.

Go U!
adult classes begin May 30 and offer three levels of improv training from the basic fundamentals to scene work and long form. Tuition for adult classes is $200 per term.

Go U!
teen classes (for students entering grades 9-12) begin May 26 and include two summer terms: May 26 - June 18 and August 4 - 27. Teen classes are the beginning of a year-long improv education with the summer semester focused on improv fundamentals. Tuition for Go U! teen classes is $200 per term, and includes a DVD copy of each term's class performances.

Go U!
kids camps begin June 22 and provide an opportunity for kids in grades 3-8 to learn the fundamentals of improvisation and important life lessons such as accepting challenges, thinking positively, teamwork, self-confidence and more! Tuition for Go U! kids camps is $350 per term and includes a DVD copy of class performances.

Go U! Improv Academy Summer 2009 Class Schedules

Adult Classes
The Improv Academy
at Go U! is broken into three levels: Intro, Intermediate and Advanced. We also offer workshops and featured classes. Classes run for eight weeks and culminate with a class show for family and friends on Tuesday, July 21.

Intro 101: Welcome to Improv
Every improv education starts somewhere. Learn the fundamentals of improvisation, basic games, scene work and skills. Get used to being on stage and working with others in a safe, supportive environment. Tuition: $200. Taught by Pj Jacokes, Sundays 12pm - 3pm beginning May 31.

Intro 201: Improv Tools
This class picks up where 101 leaves off, taking those concepts and looking deeper into them. This class looks at the tricks, tips and tools of improv and incorporates them into a variety of games. Tuition: $200. Taught by Bryan Lark, Mondays 7pm - 10pm beginning Monday, June 1.

Intro 301: Scene Work
This class continues to build on the skills learned in 101 and 201 with a focus on scene work. Intro 301 begins to move into elements of long-form improvisation. Tuition: $200. Taught by Chris DiAngelo, Saturdays 3pm-6pm beginning May 30.

Intermediate 202: Improv Games
Games are the bread and butter of every improvisers' diet and can be seen at Go Comedy! Every weekend. Learn about improv games from the classics to challenging new ones including those seen in the Go Comedy! All Star Showdown. Tuition: $200. Taught by Chris DiAngelo, Saturdays 12pm-3pm.

Teen Classes
Available to students entering grades 9-12, teen classes are the beginning of a year-long improv education focusing on the fundamentals, but gradually incorporating all aspects of the improv art form. Students may sign up for one or both summer sessions.

Teens 1
May 26 - June 18: Tuesday & Thursday 4pm -6pm
Class Show: Thursday, June 18 @ 7pm
Tuition: $250, includes a DVD of class show.

Teens 2
August 4-27: Tuesday & Thursday 4pm -6pm
Class Show: Thursday, August 27 @ 7pm
Tuition: $250, includes a DVD of class show

Go U! Kids Camps
Go U! Kids Camps offer a fun and energetic introduction to improvisation. Taught by Jaime Moyer, one of the area's best instructors and performers, these classes are a great way to get any child involved in the creative experience of improvisation.

Kids 1
: for students entering grades 3-5
June 22 - July 2, Monday - Thursday 9am - Noon
Class show: Thursday, July 2 @ 12:30pm

Kids 2
: for students entering grades 6-8
July 6-16, Monday - Thursday 9am - Noon
