Donate Shoes at Broadway Grand Rapids and Get a Discount to CINDERELLA

Drop off a pair of used shoes at Broadway Grand Rapids and get a discount to the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical, Rodgers + Hammerstein's CINDERELLA.

A collaboration between BGR and In The Image, a local non-profit, that distributes FREE, back-to-school shoes to elementary students, is kicking off on August 10. BGR will be collecting used shoes and donations for In The Image from August 10- September 2, for the 20th anniversary of the S.H.O.E.S. program, where at-risk children in Grand Rapids receive a new pair of shoes for the school year. For every donation at BGR, customers will receive a $10 discount on tickets to attend CINDERELLA when it comes to the stage at DeVos Performance Hall September 27-October 2.

In The Image Executive Director, Bethann Egan says, "This program has made a difference in over 50,000 children's lives, our goal this year to help over 5,000 students with a new pair of shoes and the confidence to start school off on the right foot". By donating an old pair of shoes or making a financial contribution, it helps to change the life of a child by building confidence and providing a basic necessity to a child in need. The annual S.H.O.E.S program at In The Image begins the distribution of shoes to children on August 22.

The story of CINDERELLA is also proof that a new pair of shoes can change your life. With its fresh new take on the beloved tale of a young woman who is transformed from a chambermaid into a princess, this hilarious and romantic Rodgers + Hammerstein's CINDERELLA combines the story's classic elements - glass slippers, pumpkin, and a beautiful ball along with some surprising twists. More than just a pretty face with the right shoe size, this Cinderella is a contemporary figure living in a fairytale setting. She is a spirited young woman with savvy and soul who doesn't let her rags or her gowns trip her up in her quest for kindness, compassion and forgiveness. She longs to escape the drudgery of her work at home and instead work to make the world a better place. She not only fights for her own dreams, but forces the prince to open his eyes to the world around him and realize his dreams too.
