The quartet has appeared in major series in the U.S. and abroad, including Carnegie Hall and Alice Tully Hall in New York, the Corcoran Gallery of Art and Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. and the Ambassador Series in Los Angeles. It has served as Quartet-in-Residence at the Cleveland Institute of Music since 1988.

The Cavani Quartet is the only ensemble to have been selected twice as recipient of the Guarneri String Quartet Award for Artistic Excellence from Chamber Music America, and is also winner of the prestigious Naumburg Chamber Music Award and the Fischoff, Banff and Coleman Competitions. An active proponent of contemporary music, the Quartet has commissioned and performed music from a worldwide array of living composers and is a recipient of the CMA/ASCAP Award for Adventurous Programming. Its recordings are available on the Azica, Gasparo, New World, Albany, and Pantheon labels.

Celino Romero is the youngest member of the legendary "Royal Family of the Guitar," The Romeros. A veritable institution in the world of classical music, The Romeros guitar quartet was founded by the celebrated Spanish guitarist Celedonio Romero with his sons Celin, Pepe and Angel. The ensemble today consists of the second generation (Celin and Pepe) and third generation (Celino and Lito) of The Romeros.

Celino began his studies with his father and grandfather at age three and joined the quartet in 1990. Highlights of his career with the ensemble include concerts in major venues across Europe, including Berlin's Philharmonie, Vienna's Gesangverein and Konzerthaus, Amsterdam's Concertgebouw, Zurich's Tonhalle and Madrid's Auditorio Nacional de Musica, among others. In the United States, he has performed at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art and at Carnegie Hall, Los Angeles' Hollywood Bowl, Boston's Jordan Hall, and in Asia at Beijing's and Shanghai's Concert Halls, the Seoul Arts Center and many more. The family has twice been invited to the White House, has played for His Holiness Pope John Paul II and for His Royal Highness Prince Charles, Prince of Wales. The Romeros have appeared many times on television, including the Tonight and Today shows as well as on PBS specials. In 2007 they received the Recording Academy's President's Merit Award from the GRAMMYS in honor of their artistic achievements.

In addition to 25 years as a member of The Romeros, Celino is also active as a soloist, and has appeared as concerto soloist with the San Francisco, Houston and San Diego Symphony Orchestras, among others.
