For the fourth consecutive year, The Sauk will offer "A Night of Improv Comedy" during Jonesville's annual Riverfest.

Performed by GoProv, an improvisational comedy troupe based in Indiana, will use suggestions from the audience to create comedy skits to entertain the audience. The fast-paced, hilarious show will have no rehearsal, no script and everything will be made up on the spot.

"Our annual improv tonight has become a Riverfest tradition," said Trinity Bird, executive director of The Sauk. "It is one of my favorite nights of the year. It is a great night to come out and laugh."

The performance begins at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 20 at The Sauk, 240 E. Chicago in Jonesville. All tickets are $10. Tickets will be available in person at the theatre Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and again from 6 p.m. until showtime. Tickets are also available online at www.thesauk.org.

For the second year, GoProv is donating their proceeds from the show to benefit The Sauk's ceiling repairs.

During the day Saturday, GoProv will host an improvisational comedy workshop open to anyone age 14 and up. The workshop will focus on the fundamentals of improv comedy, how to create characters with no rehearsal and teach games designed to open performers minds to a wide variety of comedy possibilities.

The workshop will be held from 2-5 p.m. at the theatre. Registration is $15 and includes a ticket to the evening performance. To register, call 517-849-9100 and leave a message. You will receive a confirmation phone call.

More information about GoProv, The Sauk and upcoming productions can be found at www.thesauk.org.

The GoProv show is sponsored by Fingertips Apiary. The Sauk is supported by the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs, the National Endowment of the Arts and their program ArtWorks.
