Saturday, November 5, 2011, 6 PM - 7:30 PM: Ian Maksin - Cello of the 21st Century
Described by critics as "Bocelli of the Cello," cellist and composer Ian Maksin kicks off his Florida solo tour at Arts Garage. In addition to a wide array of works for cello ranging from the music of J.S. Bach to his own work composed exclusively for Arts Garage, Maksin's performance will feature a vocal performance of some of his favorite songs from around the globe, including music by Aleksandr Vertinsky and Boris Grebeschikov - legendary composers from his native Russia - as well as that of Sting, Edith Piaf, and Buena Vista Social Club.

"I've been singing and playing guitar since I was 4 years old, primarily for a closed circle of friends and at private gatherings... A few months ago, on a whim, I pulled out a guitar after one of my cello concerts... and the audience went crazy."

Known for his intense and passionate performances, Ian has collaborated with artists such as Andrea Bocelli, P. Diddy, Sting, Snoop Dogg, Gloria Estefan, and The Beach Boys, as well as Riverdance and Cirque du Soleil. He has performed as a soloist with numerous orchestras around the world, as well as at many international music festivals such as Ravina, Spoleto, and the White Nights Festival in St. Petersburg, Russia. He has also appeared at Lollapalooza and on MTV. Ian recently returned from his sold-out European tour, where he captivated audiences with his unique style and hauntingly beautiful sound.

Ian Maksin's solo recording "Solo Flight" has been described by the "Time Out Chicago" Magazine as "thrilling and beautifully executed, and by the NBC as "Xanax for the soul".
Tickets: $25 advance preferred seating, $20 advance reserved seating, $15 advance general admission, and $20 general admission at the door.

Arts Garage' newest signature series - Urban Underground offers audiences an exciting blend of R & B, Reggae, Jazz, and Hip-Hop, and showcases some of the area's finest local and regional musicians performing with Arts Garage own house band. The first in the Urban Underground series features Hip-hop artist Eric Biddines, who has been compared to Outkast and Cee-lo. Biddines - also known as "Eric B" - has been called one of the future leaders of Hip-Hop, and has released a successful mixtape, "Da Coffee Shop", and the EP "A Story About Love." He will appear alongside special guest Chloe Dolandis and will be backed by Arts Garage's own band.

There is NOTHING like this outside of the streets of Brooklyn! Arts Garage brings the streets to you in polished Arts Garage style!"
